September 2517: On Route to Beylix

I couldn't be happier at my crew. We had a right many tough choices to make, the top of which was deciding to go back to Haven and protect the good people living there. You see, we got this job to deliver cargo and like some jobs go, the client don't want no witnesses of the transaction. So we ended up a few hours out from Haven being attacked by a psychotic mining robot. It being the same type robot as the three we delivered to Haven gave us good reason to suspect sabotage at Haven. That, Del's shiny tech skills, and James' knowing of the quartermaster as a former alliance spy, it weren't too hard to come to that conclusion.

After Del came to me privately with her intel, I knew we needed to go back to Haven. Still, I called a meeting and explained the situation. You see, it would be an honest Yee Yan mission. We was not likely to be getting paid for saving the good folk at Haven and by rights we had no obligation to go back. I do admit, my momentary selfishness felt a bit concerned for the welfare of my crew. Going back meant subjecting them to unnecessary danger and I don't well take kindly to unnecessary danger. My crew done made me proud, though, when they unanimously agreed to go back. Even Fin, for all his dour manner, suggested pulling all the beds into the cargo bay and setting up triage.

In the end, we survived with the Haven residents losing only fifteen people. I know fifteen people is fifteen people that ain't coming back, but there ain't nothing I can do about that.

We've left Haven, heading for Beylix. The Mao's Claw has gotten too much damage, expended more fuel than expected, and used too many medical supplies. If prices ain't too bad on Beylix, we should have enough creds to pay for repairs and replenishing. Duhn Ruhn, we'll be eating paste if we don't find another job right soon. Makes me want to inform Uncle Bi Rui of the dishonest Mr. Jack Gracy, the man who gave us the cargo back on Paquin to deliver to Haven. Doing such would most likely end up in his untimely demise and I'd consider it a payment for the double cross. But I won't do it. I don't well like such a path that I'd be taking me and my crew. They've proven me they're a caring bunch and I don't plan on disappointing them none.
