Current Status

Charlotte is still in graduate school. She is also continuing to work part time at Sci Tech where she has been made Educational Liaison of a pilot program in which promising Paradox City students are enrolled in a hands on class within Sci Tech. She is responsible for putting together experiments, working up the lab time, enforcing safety protocols, and interacting with the students as teacher and mentor. If this project works, Sci Tech will consider branching out the program to locations outside of the main Sci Tech headquarters.

She has just discovered that Mark Landsman, her co-worker and now boyfriend, has developed water powers. She is unsure of how this will affect their relationship but is hoping everything will work out. She lives in her own apartment and visits her Mother when she can, having dinner with her once a week. She tries to keep in touch with her siblings and talks to them on the phone once a month and sees them when they happen to be in town.

History

Charlotte Fielding is the youngest of four children; two brothers (Michael and Franklin) and one sister (Veronica). Her sister married and moved to New York City and Michael owns a very successful business that has him traveling the world. Franklin fell in love with the ocean and found a job studying the ocean’s currents and marine life.

Charlotte was born February 28, 1982 in Paradox City. She has never left Paradox City for any extended period except for those few rare trips with her family to go to Disney world or some such vacation spot. Charlotte (called Lottie by her friends and Ms. Fielding by everyone else), was a very bright child. Her parents, knowing her to be smart, put her in Kirby Academy, the best private school on the island. Her parents tried to give her a diverse background and so gave her many books to read (which Charlotte couldn’t get enough of). In particular she loved books that dealt with building things whether it be electronic or mechanical. She loved to help her father Tinker with his car and she even learned a few ways to trick it out. Tragedy struck at the age of 16 when her father died of a heart attack. However, Charlotte had a strong and loving family to help her through the morning and she went on to graduate private school at the top of her class.

Charlotte got a full scholarship to MIT and was also courted by Harvard, Bodouin, and a few other colleges. Instead of leaving home, she opted to go to the University in Paradox City. Her decision fell upon her sense of responsibility to her family. Her mother, who had Charlotte at a late age, was getting old and Charlotte couldn’t bear to leave her alone. The rest of her siblings had already left to their own lives and so no one was left to see to their mother. Charlotte didn't mind staying behind. She felt her place was in Paradox City and she couldn’t imagine leaving it.

Charlotte excelled in College and graduated a full year early in May of 2003. Charlotte decided she wanted to go to graduate school for advanced Engineering and was accepted with no problems. For the summer between graduating and going to graduate school she applied to intern at Sci Tech, a new company in the area. She did so well that after the summer ended they asked her if she would like to work full time. She declined saying she wanted to finish her schooling but did elect to work part time for them as she loved working there and still works there though not nearly as much due to her many commitments.

In February 2004, Charlotte came across an interesting book in the Sci Tech libraries. She was researching mythological creatures for an elective class and happened upon a book that listed some creatures sounding suspiciously mythological though the book described them as if they were real. Fascinated, Charlotte would read it on her breaks at work. On February 27, 2004 (Friday), Charlotte came into work and was greeted with a tiny birthday celebration from a few people she had made friends with. It wasn’t anything big and was in no way a wild celebration, but it did include a few sodas and some cupcakes. Somehow, someone spilled a drink on one of the consoles and the doors to the particle accelerator room closed and locked. Two people were stuck inside the room with the particle accelerator building up pressure. The doors wouldn’t open. Chaos ensued. Charlotte, having previously aided in some of the installations of the security systems the year before, sprang to action and began manually trying to disable the locks at the door. She got the door open and her two coworkers got out, however, they couldn’t get the door closed and Charlotte didn’t clear the blast in time.

The next thing she knew, she was on a hospital bed with her mother and three siblings standing over her. Her body was permanently paralyzed from the waist down. No one expected her to survive and yet she did. She went through a rough six months where she had to overcome a serious depression while learning to live as a paraplegic. The turning point occurred when in one of her low moments, she somehow transformed into a unicorn. It was only a minute but it startled her out of her mood. She tried to reproduce the transformation again and after an hour, she was able to turn into a Unicorn willingly. She went to the family Dr. and had him check her out without actually telling him why. He couldn’t find anything wrong wth her. She wasn’t convinced.

She made her first trip back to Sci Tech. There she was able to convince a former co-worker, Mark Landsman, to help her. He ran some more in-depth scans and they came to the conclusion something was different in her bio-scans at the Genetic level. They went over the events of the accident again and after a week of pondering over it, the one thing they could think of was that the book Charlotte had been carrying was a catalyst between her and the explosion. Charlotte had it in her backpack when she was disabling the door and during the explosion. Charlotte couldn’t locate the book after the accident. She had assumed it had been destroyed in the blast.

They looked up the origins of the book and the initial check-in to the library of the book. The book was different in that it was very old and made of a parchment that was not completely understood. Eventually, though, it was deemed safe for use within Sci Tech. They had never thought it would be harmful to anyone. The best theory they could come up with was that somehow Charlotte had absorbed the book. In September 2004, Charlotte went back to school. She had a mystery in her life that woke her up from her slump and renewed her to the fact that her life wasn’t over because of her disability. She also decided to go back to work at Sci Tech part time again. Her co-worker, Mark, continued to help her discover other forms. As of August 2005 she had realized 4 forms: Unicorn, Griffin, Luck Cricket, and Dragon. Then the aliens invaded and realizing the potential she had to protect people, she went off to battle the aliens and help those in need. Enter meeting the initial members of the paradox patrol prior to the team forming: Errant, Eon, Talisman.

A month after the battle, Charlotte found her fifth form, a Sea Serpent. While exploring the Island’s shelf, she discovered one of the Alien ships broken down. Somehow she and the rest of the new I-Hero group managed to enter the ship and find that many parts had not been flooded. Charlotte managed to get the systems up and running. While working with the alien ship she adapted some technology she learned about to soup up her wheelchair. In mid 2006, she discovered her sixth form which was that of a Dryad. The Dryad form was different than all the others in that it seemed unable to leave the vicinity of the island without getting weaker. She could make it to just off the coast to the Ship but beyond that she had trouble holding the form. She found out that this odd form was connected to the special tree in Paradox City. When she stayed close to it, she felt strong and connected to the entire city. The farther she moved away, the weaker and less connected she felt.

Archenemy

Alias: Legend

Real Name: Emma Rosethorn

Background Info: Emma Rosethorn's relative was responsible for creating the book that Lottie absorbed. She spent years searching for pieces of the book and became angry to find out Lottie had achieved so much by accidently performing the ritual to absorb the book's powers. Emma did find some ripped out pages from the book: a ghost form, a dragon form, and a few others. Emma felt gipped of the right to have the power of the book for herself. She mind controlled Mark Landsman for months to find out all the information she could about Lottie. Then, when she was ready, she put the paradox patrol under a spell and ordered them to kill Myth and bring the body to her. Emma nearly succeeded in killing Lottie, but was thwarted when Lottie tapped into the magical connection between their powers rendering Emma temporarily helpless.
