Angel (Malak in Arabic) is a hot but not desert planet (compare to Los Angeles)
Jibril appears to be a predominately Muslim city of about 190,000 on the Western Coast of the largest continent. Sharia Law - no drinking, modesty, dietary laws, etc.. But it is pretty modern (relaxed dress code, greater rights for women). There is a call to prayer five times a day and people pray to the Earth that Was.

Jibril is a trade center and production center for fairly substantial farming communities in its area.
However the majority of its labor force is employed directly or indirectly by the construction industry.

There is a small ALLIANCE naval base on the edge of the space port.
