According to legend Southern, god of magic and architecture, was
attempting to find a way to grow cities by planting stones. However,
he accidentally planted acorns instead and a giant and dense forest
sprung up as a result. Technically, parts of the forest are in the
Midnight Empire and the Kingdom of Gaum. Neither sovereignty
penetrates far inside, though. The Forest is a dangerous place, home
to both wild beasts and magical creatures. Many sections are so thick
they are almost mazelike and towards the northern end it becomes so
impenetrable that not even the Whistlers, who make their home here,
know what lies beyond.
